Blinkers can make you FAIL the Road Test

Open road

It costs you one point on your driver's test & THOSE POINTS ADD UP!

Ever seen someone switch lanes with no blinker? Annoying, right?...It may have been your own parent- But don't tell them I mentioned it LOL! SO many people forget about using their blinker- but missing it on your road exam can compound and make you FAIL!!

Don’t Let Small Mistakes Cost You BIG on Your Driver’s Test!

So, you’re finally gearing up for your driver’s test? Let’s be real—you want to pass on the first try. But did you know that tiny mistakes (the kind you barely notice) can cost you points? And trust me, those points add up FAST!

When you are taking that drivers test there are MULTIPLE opportunities to use your blinker:

  • Going into and coming out of parallel parking
  • Two point turnabout (blink the way you are backing)
  • Turning Right or left
  • In a parking lot
  • Changing lanes

Why This Matters:

You want to set your intentions, create space, be courteous, and keep it simple. As a standard turning on your blinker/turn signal about 100 feet in advance is proper protocol. Being sure you have space and people know what you are doing is important.

MY RANT:

Let's say you lose a point for every time you miss a blinker and you were suppose to get 10 blinker points but you miss ALL of them! So now your max score is a 90! You only have 15 points to lose now... You hit a cone while parallel parking minus 6... You turn too wide out of the parking lot a bit into the other lane that's 4 ... You now only have 5 points left to lose and you JUST HIT THE ROAD!

You might think, “Eh, I’ll just retake it if I fail.” But failing means waiting to retest, paying again, and sitting through more lectures from your parents. Not fun. Plus, every mistake you fix now makes you a safer driver—not just for the test, but for real life.

GOOD DRIVING ISN'T PASSING THE TEST

But here are Pro-Tip for Passing:

During your test, over-exaggerate your safe driving habits. Turn your head when checking mirrors, slow down smoothly, and be extra obvious about following rules. Your examiner isn’t a mind reader, so make sure they see you making smart choices.

Bottom line? Little mistakes = lost points = possible failure. But now that you know what to watch for, you’re already ahead of the game. Get out there, drive smart, and go claim that license!

BE MINDFUL:

🚗 Checking Blind Spots – Quick glance? Not enough. Your examiner wants to see a full head turn. No head turn = lost points. 🚗 Rolling Stops – A stop sign means STOP. Not slow down, not roll through—STOP. 🚗 Speeding (Even a Little) – Examiners have zero chill with speeding. Stay under the limit, even by just a couple mph. 🚗 Braking Too Hard – Smooth stops = confidence. Jerky stops? It looks like you’re panicking. 🚗 Know the Basics – What’s the speed limit in a school zone? How far should you park from a fire hydrant? If you don’t know, now’s the time to learn.
